The Department

Using new automated data-acquisition equipment, students compare a real induction machine with its analytical model

Imperial’s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is the largest such department in the UK, with a commitment to developing graduates with the skills and knowledge to use technology to make things faster, better, cleaner and cheaper.

Electronics impact on almost every area of our lives, including communications, commerce, manufacturing, healthcare, transport and the environment. This means that the skills our graduates acquire are highly sought after. A broad range of career opportunities are available in areas such as electronics and integrated circuit design, software and systems, telecommunications, gaming and software development, image processing, electrical energy and control, technical consultancy, finance and management.

We belong to the Power Academy of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The Power Academy consists of industrial partners and seven leading UK universities in the power engineering field, and aims to support and produce high quality power engineering graduates. The Academy offers scholarship opportunities to UK and EU students, which include training with partner industrial companies in the summer vacation and IET membership, as well as a contribution to university fees and provision of bursaries.
