Review of IT Training Services
In the past staff arriving at College were not as IT literate as they are now, and thus the College needed to train them in the use of computers and MS Office software. There was a sizable and steady demand for training in the basic use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Up until 2004 ICT employed two in house trainers and since then one. More recently, people appointed by College have arrived with very good IT skills and do not need this general IT training, although there is a small demand for more specialist training.
In the light of the low take up of IT training courses in recent years, ICT has reviewed the IT training service and reluctantly decided to close this part of its service. Thus as of 1st September ICT will offer no further IT training.
Any training required for the College CMS will be provided by the ICT web team, which will enable them to build closer relationships with those involved with web authoring and the College CMS. E-Learning (Blackboard) and Accessibility courses will also continue to be provided.
Going forward Departments and Faculties will need to make their own arrangements for any courses they need. ICT will look to provide information to help with finding external courses or trainers.
Writing for the Web, CMS, E-Learning and Accessibility courses
Training in the College CMS will be provided by the ICT web team. E-Learning (Blackboard) and Accessibility courses will also continue to be provided as before. For more information about these courses please go to the scheduled course list.
