Postdoc Development Centre
Launching your career
Overview
Congratulations on your appointment as a postdoc and welcome to Imperial! You are embarking on a scientific career which needs forward planning, a thorough understanding of your options and a successful transition from research student to research staff.
This three day residential course will help you to address these areas, and is directed at those in their first or second year of post doctoral research. Working alongside other researchers with similar experience and facilitated by tutors who have been postdocs, you will explore your role, motivations and future plans. Strategies to move towards research independence, skills to become a successful researcher, wider career options, and personal target setting will be covered.
The course is highly participative and participants should be prepared to undertake elements of critical review. By using real case studies to illustrate the realities of academic life at Imperial and elsewhere this course will provide some of the building blocks from which to launch your career.
