Spectral/hp Element method research group
Group Goals
The group researches the development and application of Spectral/hp Element techniques for solving complex geometry partial differential equations primarily motivated by the field of fluid mechanics.
Codes
Our group uses several variants of the C/C++ Spectral/hp Element Method code Nektar. Currently the group, in collaboration with Software Engineers at the University of Utah, is working to develop Nektar++. Nektar++ will be solely programmed in C++ and have a superior architectural structure to its predecessor Nektar.
Demonstrations
Flow past an airfoil that is periodic in the spanwise direction
Isocontours of temperature for flow past a spanwise periodic cylinder
Flow past Spencer's thumb
Applications
Spectral/hp Methods can be used in a diverse range of CFD applications. The links below are to research groups in Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College that use Spectral/hp Methods.
