University and College Certificates
All certificates will be posted to your registered home address so please ensure you keep your home address up to date.
University of London Degrees
Degree certificates are produced and sent out by the University of London, normally about three months after the date of award, to your home address. If you do not receive your certificate or if your certificate is lost or damaged and you require a replacement, please contact the University of London, Diploma Despatch Office, directly tel: +44 (0)20 7862 8303 or email: diploma.enquiries@london.ac.uk.
Imperial College Degrees
Degree certificates are produced and sent out by the Registry, normally up to 3 months after the date of the award, to your home address.
If you require proof of the award of your degree before you receive the certificate, please email records@imperial.ac.uk to request a Confirmation of Degree letter.
Other College Certificates
Imperial College also issues a number of College certificates, which are awarded concurrently with undergraduate or postgraduate degrees, as follows:
- Associateship of the Royal College of Science (ARCS) – awarded to undergraduates who receive a BSc or MSci degree from a programme within the Royal College of Science. They will normally be sent out to your home address at around the same time as the degree certificate.
- Associateship of the Royal School of Mines (ARSM) – awarded to undergraduates who receive a BSc, BEng, MSci or MEng degree from a programme within the Royal School of Mines. They will normally be sent out to your home address at around the same time as the degree certificate
- Diploma of the Imperial College (DIC) – awarded to postgraduates who receive an MSc, MPhil or PhD degree awarded by the University of London. They will normally be sent out to your home address at around the same time as the degree certificate. Please be aware that if you are registered for an Imperial College degree you will not receive a separate DIC certificate.
The following certificate can be awarded to some Imperial College students however is not produced by Imperial College:
- ACGI certificates are produced by the City and Guilds Institute. Queries should be made directly to City and Guilds on +44 (0)20 7294 2800,.
If you do not receive your certificate, or it is damaged, please read the regulations and guidelines below which give information on how to apply for a replacement certificate.
Award Dates
The award date on your certificate will depend on the course you were registered on, and on whether there is any reason for not confirming your degree (such as a debt to the College). The normal award dates are:
Undergraduate degrees: 1 August
Taught postgraduate degrees finishing in September: 1 November
Taught postgraduate degrees finishing at other times: First day of the month after the month in which the course ended
Postgraduate research degrees (Imperial College degree): First day of the month after the month in which the award of the degree was agreed
Postgraduate research degrees (University of London degree): Last day of the month in which the award was agreed
