Nick Quirke is Professor of Physical Chemistry His research group conducts fundamental research in key areas of nanoscience with strong support from EPSRC, the EU and industry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN), Editor-in-Chief of the international interdisciplinary computational journal, Molecular Simulation, and Chairman of the Journal of Experimental Nanoscience. He was Head of the Computational, Theoretical and Structural Chemistry group, Director, Masters Programme in Nanomaterials and Visiting Fellow at the National Physical Laboratory (1998- 2006) . He received the 1998 Royal Society of Chemistry Medal for Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics and was Royal Society/Kan Tong Po Professor at the University of Hong Kong for the session 2003/2004. He was awarded the 2006 NSTI Fellow Award for Outstanding Contributions towards the Advancement of the Nanotechnology and Biotechnology Community.
