Work in the Hill Group is aimed toward the discovery of new (catalytic and stoichiometric) reactivity and bonding patterns within the s-, p- and f-block metals. This is achieved through application of ligand design principles that emphasise the importance of kinetic factors in the precise control of reactivity at labile metal centres. Although the central theme of this work is largely synthetic and organometallic (much of it being air- and moisture-sensitive and requiring Schlenk and glovebox techniques), we also seek to understand mechanistic and theoretical aspects of our research through kinetic and computational analyses.
