Jens joined the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group, Imperial College Business School, where he is currently working with James Barlow and Andrew Davies, in February 2009. Prior to joining Imperial College, Jens was a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Research in Strategic Purchasing and Supply (CRiSPS), University of Bath, School of Management and a research member of the 3.5-year, £5m EPSRC & ESRC Grand Challenge ‘Knowledge and Information Management' research project. He also holds a MSc in Operations Management from the University of Bath, School of Management and a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering.
His doctoral research investigates the dynamic interplay of contractual and relational governance in inter-organisational relationships that are inherent in long-term, complex product-service supply arrangements. During his doctoral research, Jens was a visiting scholar at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, invited by Professor Lawton R. Burns. He also presented his doctoral research at MIT, Manchester Business School and the University of Reading.
His current research focuses on issues relating to innovation and the role of business models, exploring (i) innovative multi-utility service provision in urban infrastructure redevelopment projects in the UK and US and (ii) investigating the extent to which public procurement policies drive innovation in the delivery of health infrastructure projects in Europe.
