Dr. Jonathan Pinto is Assistant Professor, Organizational Behaviour at Imperial College Business School. He teaches the “Organizational Behaviour” core course and the “Managing Negotiations” elective on the MBA programmes. He is also a visiting faculty member at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, and has been a bought-in faculty at London Business School.
Jonathan holds Bachelor of Commerce and LLB degrees from the University of Mumbai, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, Katz Graduate School of Business.
Jonathan’s research revolves around trust and interdependence. One research stream investigates the extent to which team selectors choose those whom they trust (i.e. with whom they have worked before), particularly when they perceive risks to be higher. Another research stream investigates trust betrayal, particularly with regard to corruption and whistle-blowing and relationship repair. Jonathan’s work has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Learning & Education, and Group & Organization Management.
Prior to embarking on his doctorate, Jonathan had eight years of corporate experience and four years of entrepreneurial experience. His corporate experience included stints at Procter & Gamble, Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), and Clarion Advertising (now Bates India).
As a consultant, Jonathan has worked with clients such as AC Nielsen, ATV Petrochem, Child Relief & You, Enron, Globus, Godrej Soaps, Hindustan Unilever, Industrial Finance Corporation of India, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Maersk-Sealand, Orange, Parksons, Pfizer, Reliance, SAP, Spykar, Siemens, Sight Savers India, the UB Group and Warner Lambert.
Jonathan has also successfully delivered executive education to clients such as the Royal Society and Finmeccanica.
