My research  examines the provision of ecosystem services by arthropod communities, particularly biological control within temperate cropping systems. I use a range of approaches, including mesocosm, manipulative and observational field studies and molecular techniques, to study the community and spatial dynamics that affect herbivore suppression. Community and spatial processes are traditionally treated separately but I am interested in developing methods of combining the two, to determine how community interactions and dispersal processes combine to influence ecosystem service rates at broader spatial scales.
