Prof Ciaran Driver holds an honours degree in electrical engineering from the National University of Ireland. He obtained an MA in Systems from Lancaster University Business School and an MSc in Economics (with distinction) from the University of London. His PhD, awarded by the CNAA in 1984, was externally supervised from the University of Cambridge.

His main research specialisms are capital investment and other forward commitments under risk as well as the political economy and external effects of investment.

Previous posts have included economic advice on employment and investment policy at the National Economic Development Office and consultancies to a range of organisations, including the OECD and DTI.

He is an external associate of the Centre for Econometric Analysis, Cass Business School London and a consultant professor at Syracuse University.
