Life at CPB

I have joined the CPB to work on the new vector population biology theme. My work is part of a very exciting project involving different laboratories and trying to develop a control strategy for mosquitoes (anopheles) involved in malaria. This strategy will be based on the drive of transgenic mosquitoes into wild populations using homing endonuclease genes. I will focus on the exploration of the population dynamics and population genetics aspects of this project.

Previous Research

During my PhD at the University of Paris XI in France, I studied the impact of parasitism in conservation biology using models. A first part of my work concerned the combined impacts of Allee effect and parasitism. A second part dealt with modelling the impact of virus-vectored immunocontraception, a method for controlling pest species based on the use of viruses that are genetically modified such that they sterilise their host.

Before turning to ecology, I studied mathematics at the University of Bretagne Occidentale. I thus use mathematical models to investigate ecological systems, particularly population dynamics and host-parasite relationships.
