Anthony Bull's research is in the area of the mechanics of muscles, bones and joints. He has collaborations with clinicians and basic scientists and leads a large research group with subspecialisations in:
- computational biomechanics,
- experimental biomechanics,
- tissue mechanics,
- failure biomechanics,
- musculoskeletal dynamics,
- in vivo measurements and modelling, and
- biomechanics and integrative physiology'
He is currently Chair of the Engineering in Medicine and Health Division Board of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, is a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering Biomedical Engineering Panel and sits on the Bioengineering Society main committee. Anthony is Director of The Royal British Legion Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London.
