Widening Participation School Visits
Is there any way we can help you with your Higher Education Awareness program? Do your sixth formers need some encouragement to start thinking about applying to university? Can we give them some advice about their applications? Would they like interview practice?
At Imperial College we are committed to raising the aspirations of school and college students, encouraging them to apply to fulfil their potential and to apply to the right university for them.
One possible approach is a presentation to a group of between 10 and 250 students followed by a question and answer session. A typical presentation might include:
- Why bother applying to university?
- How to choose a course and university (prospectuses, course requirements, open days)
- How to apply (UCAS forms, writing an excellent personal statement)
- Student life (accommodation, finance, social life)
We are very willing to consider any format that you feel would be more appropriate to your school/college. For example, we can offer:
- Talks and workshops for students on how to apply and writing an excellent personal statement
- Talks on performing well at interview
- Mock interviews
We often take part in higher education fairs and we are always happy to collaborate with other universities. We would like to help in any way we can to encourage more students to consider applying to higher education.
If you would like to book a visit or you would like to discuss alternative arrangements for your institution, please do not hesitate to contact Jane Marshall, the Widening Participation Manager.
