ArtsFest 2015

Imperial will be showing its creative side on Monday with the start of ArtsFest 2015.

ArtsFest, Imperial’s annual arts, music and dance showcase, aims to highlight the diverse range of creative activities on offer to staff and students across the College.

As part of the festival, ArtsFest will be joining forces with researchers for the latest Imperial Fringe– a free public event on Thursday evening which will feature exciting hands-on collaborations involving dancing, medicine, music and physics.

ArtsfestThe event, themed around the science of light, will see the Leonardo Fine Arts Society teaming up with postgraduate researcher Hikmatali Shariff from the Department of Physics to create an interactive display of ‘astro-graffiti’.

Throughout the week the South Kensington Campus will play host to an exciting array of free events, workshops and masterclasses including performances by Imperial's String Ensemble and.Big Band as well as juggling workshops and a film night.

Jonathan McNaught, (Physics), Chair of Imperial’s Arts and Entertainments Board, said: “We have over 1600 students who are members of art, music, dance, drama, and entertainment societies and over 10,000 people attend events given by these societies each year. ArtsFest is a week where all of the creative groups from around the college come together, collaborate and showcase what they can do.

The festival is a fantastic opportunity for staff and students to see the artistic side of the College, and there’s also a chance for people to get involved themselves and try their hand at something creative.”
