New furniture installed in the Reynolds Building at Charing Cross campus to help improve student experience

Last year, the Faculty of Medicine looked at ways to help improve the student experience at the Charing Cross campus. With this in mind, the Campus Dean Alison McGregor, together with Student Union representatives Suzie Raynor and Shiv Vohra, suggested that new furniture in the Reynolds mezzanine area would make a difference to the way the area could be used and would also significantly improve its look.

Professor Jenny Higham, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Director of Education (Medicine), fully supported their recommendation and funded the new furniture using money generated by the Singapore Medical School project. The furniture was installed in January this year and has proved a real hit with everyone who uses this space.

“It’s wonderful to see how much the Reynolds mezzanine has been completely transformed by the installation of new furniture. It’s great to see it being so heavily used by all our students as both a breakout space and as a space for group work. I hope everyone will agree that it’s a much nicer, brighter and more welcoming space than it was prior to the renovation works. My thanks go to the Faculty of Medicine, in particular Prof Higham, Trudy Breuss and Prof McGregor, and to the Reynolds building team for their commitment towards improving this space for our students. This wouldn’t have been possible without their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment” - Shiv Vohra, President of the School of Medicine Students’ Union.
