The Bioinformatics Data Science Group have introduced new helpdesk software, and improvements to notifications of service status

The Bioinformatics Data Science Group (BDSG, formerly the Bioinformatics Support Service) have implemented improvements to their helpdesk and provision for announcement of service updates.

New helpdesk software and email address

Email messages sent to our help address are now managed by a ticketing system. This will help us maintain oversight of support enquiries across the group and help us ensure queries are dealt with by the most appropriate members of staff. Queries sent to indiviudal members of staff will also be placed into the ticketing system to ensure they can be acted on most appropriately.

Our primary contact address is now bdsg-help@imperial.ac.uk, to reflect the change in the group name which occurred earlier this year. Messages sent to the old 'bss-help' address will also be directed to the ticketing system.

Service announcements

To allow us to better communicate changes to the service and scheduled maintenance periods, we have setup a bdsg-announce email list. This is a low-traffic list intended only for to provide information about significant changes which may impact on users of our services. It is highly recommended that active users subscribe to this mailing list.

You can now also now follow us on Twitter (@Imperial_BDSG) where announcements of service updates and news relating to the group.
