This event provides a great opportunity to catch up with the first cohort of Imperial Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and hear about their work at this one-day programme of talks and posters. You will also have a chance to meet the second cohort of Fellows as they begin their fellowships, and talk with the academic champions and supporters of the scheme.
Imperial set up its JRF scheme in 2008 to appoint a new community of the brightest and best early-career researchers to College, and to give them freedom to focus on their research.
Imperial remains committed to attracting and supporting the best research talent, and is investing more than £10 million over five years in the JRF scheme, as well as over 220 alumni donations since 2008. The scheme is offering up to 60 three-year Fellowships, which include research expenses and support from a senior Imperial academic, who acts as a sponsor by providing mentoring, equipment and research space. Applications for the third cohort of Imperial JRFs remain open until the end of October 2010.
The JRF scheme has attracted high quality applications from researchers around the world, as well as from those already working at Imperial. This event will pay tribute to the time, resources and support that people have provided for nurturing early-career research stars, as well as to the research of the JRFs themselves.
