RokDoc, an industry leading subsurface analysis tool, has been given to the Department of Earth Science and Engineering as a gift in kind by Ikon Science, a valued industrial collaborator. The ongoing relationship with Ikon Science allows us to provide their technology and software to our Master’s students.

The in-kind gift of $15m worth of RokDoc software facilitates our Petroleum Geoscience MSc students to put the principles of rock physics into practice using real well and seismic data – they can quickly and easily interrogate the influence of rock and fluid properties on pre and post stack seismic reflection character. This allows them to understand and reduce the risk associated with subsurface interpretation, in line with best practice for exploration and production activities in the oil industry.

The use of cutting-edge technologies and current industry programs helps prepare our Petroleum MSc students to work effectively in industry.
