New MoU between the CPE and SICAM at Nanjing Tech

New MoU between the CPE and Nanjing Tech to establish a joint research centre in plastic electronics strengthens the links with China

In the week 11^th – 18^th October, Professor Donal Bradley visited Nanjing in Jiangsu Province, China at the invitation of Professor Wei Huang (Nanjing Tech President) to give a Nanjing Tech Distinguished Lecture entitled “Plastic Electronics and Photonics – an Update” and to hold detailed discussions with researchers from the Institute for Advanced Materials at Nanjing Tech and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.  Professor Bradley was made an Honorary Professor at Nanjing Tech in July 2013 when he gave the first Global Vision Lecture there. Following on from that visit, a team of CPE staff (CDT Director Dr Paul Stavrinou and Professors John de Mello, Natalie Stingelin and Martin Heeney) attended a focused workshop in Nanjing Tech in May this year and plans are now progressing for a 2nd workshop in Nanjing next March.

During his visit, Professor Bradley and Professor Huang signed a MoU between the Centre for Plastic Electronics at Imperial College London and the Synergetic Innovation Centre for Advanced Materials (SICAM) at Nanjing Tech to establish a joint research centre in plastic electronics.  He also met with a number of senior provincial government officials to discuss opportunities for future collaboration.

The signing was also attended by Deputy Director Hong Guo (Division of International Cooperation & Exchange, Jiangsu Department of Education).

Provincial Vice-Governor Professor Weixing Cao discusses his ambitions for future economic development in Jiangsu Province with CPE Director Professor Donal Bradley.  Professor Cao emphasized the importance of sustainable development that improves the quality of life for Jiangsu citizens and pledged his support for the collaboration between Imperial College London’s Centre for Plastic Electronics and Nanjing Tech’s SICAM centre.  The meeting was also attended by Professor Xiaochang Ding (Vice Director General, Jiangsu Department of Education), Professor Wei Huang, Professor Jianming Gong  (Nanjing Tech Vice-President), Professor Xuejun He (Nanjing Tech Assistant-President) and Professor Jing Su (Deputy Director of the International Relations Office at Nanjing Tech).
