Judy Beard

Judy Beard, who has won the Institute for Fundraising's Lifetime Contribution Award, joined the College in May 2009

At a glittering awards ceremony in July 2009, Judy Beard, the Office of Alumni and Development’s new director, was recognised for her contribution to the fundraising community and environment through her actions, leadership and intellect. Selected by a panel of highly respected and influential fundraisers, Judy was awarded the highly coveted Institute of Fundraising’s Lifetime Contribution Award.

Commending Judy, the panel said: “She’s achieved so much during her career in fundraising, and is one of the very best in the fundraising industry.

“Judy is exceptionally good at building a team, with an emphasis on encouraging the talents of others. With her talent and flair, she loves the buzz of a big fundraising challenge.”

Judy joined the Office of Alumni and Development in May 2009 and brought with her more than 30 years experience of working with charities. Most recently Judy was Principal Management Consultant at the Management Centre, a not-for-profit training and consultancy organisation. Prior to this, she spent nine years as Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications at Macmillan Cancer Support, and in her last six months served as acting Chief Executive Officer. She has previously held senior roles in fundraising at Save the Children, the British Red Cross and the Tate Gallery.
