Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication prizes awarded for outstanding work in 2014/15

The Sir Arthur Acland Prize for Excellence in Languages for 2014/15 was awarded jointly to Zeinab Hamid and Insa Roemgens (both from the Department of Chemistry) in recognition of the outstanding effort and achievements they made in their studies of Spanish and French respectively. Their work was not just outstanding but demonstrated a consistent commitment and enthusiasm for language learning combined with academic rigour over many years.

The Sir Arthur Acland Prize in the fields of Science, Culture and Society and Global Challenges is currently awarded annually to any undergraduate student for excellence in the Extended Essay.  The prize winner this year is Cassandra Yong for her original piece of creative writing and the accompanying compelling and very well written explanatory essay.  One of the panel appointed to award the prize wrote that the nominations were  ‘… all very different and all could be regarded as excellent, albeit for different reasons….all of the pieces speak volumes about the value and quality of Imperial Horizons.’

The Rector’s Prize for Communication Skills which is awarded to the highest scoring student on the Communicating Science course has this year been awarded to Emma Lisle.

We would like to congratulate all the prize winners for their wonderful achievements.
