EFL member Professor Goran Strbac has contributed to the Europe-wide initiative Roadmap 2050.

Roadmap 2050 is a Europe-wide initiative of the European Climate Foundation (ECF) and has been developed by a consortium of experts funded by the ECF.

Its mission is to provide a practical, independent and objective analysis of pathways to achieve a low-carbon economy in Europe, in line with the energy security, environmental and economic goals of the European Union.

The project published its first reports in April 2010. Professor Goran Strbac contributed significantly to the technical and economic analysis, which concluded that in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050, fundamental changes to the energy system are needed. In order to develop the necessary zero-carbon power supply, the transition must be started in earnest within the next 5 years.
