Welcome to Biomechanics

The Biomechanics group is part of Medical Engineering, within the Applied Mechanics Division of the Mechanical Engineering Department and is headed by Professor Andrew Amis. It is involved in a variety of multidisciplinary projects using engineering techniques to solve orthopaedic problems and develop new orthopaedic devices. The group consists of lecturers, post-doctoral researchers, clinical researchers and PhD and MSc students. We work closely with other Research Groups within Mechanical Engineering, including Mechatronics in Medicine and Tribology and with other Departments within the College, including Bioengineering and the Faculty of Medicine.
