Department of Materials

Scholarships

Please note that competition for all scholarships is fierce: the two key criteria for all scholarships at Imperial are an outstanding academic record and demonstrable financial need.

College Scholarships

Information about scholarships funded by Imperial College may be found here. The closing date for College PhD scholarships for overseas applicants for October 2012 entry is expected to be in January 2012.

Departmental Scholarships

MRS - the Department of Materials runs an exclusive Materials Research Scholarships scheme and expects to make up to five new awards of up to £5000 p.a. for October 2012 entry. All PhD applicants to the Department who are eligible are automatically considered for these awards, although shortlisted candidates may be asked to provide further information in addition to their PhD application. The outcome will be decided after the results of the College scholarship competition are known, which is usually after Easter.

DTG - the Department of Materials receives an annual Doctoral Training Grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and expects to fund at least five fully-funded studentships for October 2012 entry. Applicants must have been normally resident in the UK for at least three years to be eligible for an award.
