About Us
Welcome to the Imperial College London Humanities Website. The Department of Humanities is responsible for a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate academic and academic support activities. Our aim is to enhance the central College mission of teaching and research in science, technology and medicine in a number of ways.
For instance, we provide an English Language Support Programme for overseas students and staff whose first language is not English, to enable them to learn more effectively in an English language environment and enjoy a better experience in the UK. We provide a range of language courses and courses in the Humanities, available for both the daytime or evening study, designed to contextualise the specialist learning of our students. We run taught postgraduate courses in history of science, science communication and in translation, providing vocational training for essential professional groups closely associated with science, technology and medicine. In support of this postgraduate teaching, we also undertake research and scholarship in the fields of history of science, science communication, language, and translation.
We very much hope that everyone who uses our teaching and support services, or enrols for our taught or research degrees, will benefit from and enjoy their experiences of working with us.
