EXSS

The research mission of Experimental Solid State Physics - EXSS - is to carry out exemplary basic science and technology development in the key thematic areas defined by Imperial College and the Research Council research strategy namely: Energy and Efficient Energy Use; Security, Sensors and Nanomagnetism; Research at the Interface with Biomedical Sciences; Plastic Electronics and Optoelectronics.

The group has 18 academic staff, over thirty post doctoral research fellows, and fifty PhD students. Our group office has 4 shared administrative staff and three technicians in the mechanical workshop. In total we have over 100 members of staff, researchers and PhD students and we are one of the largest and most diverse research groups in the department. We also like to think ourselves one of the most welcoming.  We had the EXSS 2010 Christmas Party, as you can see it was enjoyed by everyone.  State of the art science, up to the minute facilities and a friendly dynamic environment - this is what EXSS is all about.
