The Department of Computing at Imperial is one of the largest Computing departments in the UK and is a world leader in academic research in Computer Science.

We are particularly well known for our work on computer systems, human-centered computing, logic & artificial intelligence, theory of computational systems, quantitative analysis & optimisation, distributed software engineering and visual information processing.

The Department has been ranked 2nd UK-wide in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) undertaken by the Higher Education funding Council for England (HEFCE) in 2008.
