Research Ethics Committees in London are recruiting new expert members

NRES are looking for health care professionals or clinical researchers interested in scrutinising the ethical aspects of research proposals.

Committee members receive training in ethical review and have opportunities to debate challenging issues in the life sciences to help protect the rights and well-being of research participants and promote ethical research.

Positions are voluntary but expenses are paid, including travel and childcare costs if applicable. Committees meet on average for half a day per month and applicants will need to be able to attend at least two thirds of meetings.

Peer Review

Imperial AHSC is developing a Peer Review Service which will centralise and standardise the process of Peer Review for research protocols across the College and the Trust.

The Peer Review Service will be available to researchers from 4th January 2011.  Although use of the Service for relevant projects will not be compulsory, it will be strongly encouraged.  RECs and the R&D Department will increasingly require review of projects with significant risk or burden in order to help ethical review and decisions about sponsorship.  Projects that need review but have not acquired it may be delayed.

For more information please see the Peer Review section of this website.
