General FAQ
How much study time will I need to allow for each module?
The study time required for each module is, on average, five hours per week over a period of 31 weeks.
Will I need to buy any books in addition to the study material provided?
No, all the material you will need to complete the module is included in your study material. In addition to the material written by the module authors, there are a set of readings and usually one or two textbooks, depending on the module.
Is there any face to face tuition involved?
We require you to attend just one module (The Imperial Edge module). This is a three-week programme held at the South Kensington campus in London – see details of this module under the Study programme tab. All other modules are studied entirely on a distance basis with contact being made through our virtual/on-line environments.
Where are exams held?
In most cases exams are held in a place near where you live – often British Council offices – so you do not need to come to London. For certain countries this may not be possible to organise and special one off arrangements will then be made.
How long will it take?
The minimum time required is two years, but students are registered for four years. You can study up to five modules a year, but if after starting your studies you think this is too much, or your circumstances change, you may defer one or all of the modules until the following year. For students with demanding jobs, we recommend that you attempt no more than three modules in any one year.
What order must I take the modules in?
Students must study core modules before studying the specialisation and project, but can take these core modules in any order.
Can I obtain credits for courses taken at another university?
No. Imperial College does not give credits for courses taken at any other institution.
Does the school provide a careers service to the distance MBA students?
We subscribe to the MBAheadhunter service at www.MBAheadhunter.com. This superb
service, which allows students to network with potential employers and also allows recruiters
to search through student CVs and videos, is free to all DLMBA students once they have enrolled. Our
on-site career service is financed and dedicated to the campus programmes and therefore not
available to our distance MBA students.
