Agriculture for Impact

Monitoring Agricultural Development Assistance

Joint workshop with the ONE campaign and Imperial College London: 10th May 2010

workshopIn working discussions at the end of 2009, development researchers at ONE and Imperial College London identified increasing numbers of initiatives to monitor and analyse donor commitments and disbursements of agricultural development assistance.

These different initiatives appeared to have different approaches and objectives, but potentially similar methodological challenges.

We concluded it would be useful to encourage information sharing and try to identify synergies and complementarities. On Monday 10th May, ONE and Imperial College convened a workshop to explore these ideas further.

The main objectives of the event were:

  • To bring together development practitioners and researchers currently engaged in monitoring agricultural development assistance
  • To share information about current activities and approaches to monitoring, including definitions of agricultural funding.
  • To determine areas of overlap and how work could be mutually supportive going forward, including continued contact and information sharing in the future
